Heading off for a Sunset Cruise

Dive, Fish, Kayak, Snorkel Taveuni Island

The ocean surrounding Taveuni Island is home to some of the world’s most beautiful coral and amazing marine life. Go diving at Rainbow Reef and explore the hidden underwater world; kayak to isolated romantic beaches; experience game fishing in the Somosomo Straits or take a private sunset cruise.

Diving

Taveuni Island has some of the best diving spots in the world and is known as “the soft coral capital of the world.”

Explore the Somosomo Straits and see the amazing Rainbow Reef. This beautiful reef is 30km long and boasts magnificent multi-coloured soft corals, as well as stunning hard corals. Rainbow Reef is known for its marine life – manta rays, barracudas, white tip sharks, butterfly fish, stone fish, long nose hawk fish and leopard sharks have all been spotted around Rainbow Reef.

The resort was, for 25 years, the Top Dive Resort in the South Pacific. The owner of Taveuni Island Resort & Spa discovered all the sites on the Rainbow Reef and Great White Wall which are now legendary throughout the world.

We now rely on our former Dive Masters and Instructors to show visitors the wonders of this amazing underwater world. When Ric Cammick retired, his top staff members formed their own companies: Vunibokoi Divers and Jewel Bubble Divers.

Please check their credentials and e-mail them directly to pre-book diving OR book on arrival at the resort which is very easily arranged.

Deep Sea Fishing

Douglas, the manager of this amazing resort, is one of Fiji’s most renowned game fishermen. He will enjoy taking you out on one of his many boats, which are outfitted with the state of the art gear. Doug’s knowledge of this area’s top fishing spots is unsurpassed.

Whether you are an experienced fisherman, or a novice, the abundant waters of Taveuni offers exciting and adventurous fishing for all: Marlin, Sailfish, Wahoo, Walu, Dogtooth and Yellowfin Tuna, are just some of the varied species you can catch in the waters off Taveuni.

Kayaking and Snorkelling

Kayaking is a great way to explore the island’s many isolated bays. Kayak in the lagoon and enjoy a romantic picnic on one of the three small honeymoon islands.

Go snorkelling straight off our beach in front of the resort and experience the amazing underwater life surrounding Taveuni Island.

Island Hopping and Boat Excursions

To really appreciate the beauty of Taveuni you need should take one of the resorts many fast boats to visit some of the neighbouring islands.

The resort will pack your lunch with champagne if you wish, provide snorkelling gear and/or kayaks, so you can spend a day, doing as much or as little as you choose in some of the beautiful secluded bays or beaches you will discover. Feel like Adam & Eve for a day!

You can also travel right along the east coast to enjoy the Lavena Walk from the sea, and view nature’s magnificence. There are numerous picture perfect waterfalls which cascade from the high peaks of Taveuni, then crash into the aqua waters of the Pacific Ocean. Kayaks can be carried on the speed boat so you can enjoy a leisurely paddle before hopping back on board if you become tired.

On the West coast there is beautiful Korolevu Island which is a great place for a picnic or BBQ, with just you and your loved one, your suntan lotion, a hamper of yummy food, a bottle of bubbles, and a couple of sea gulls!

Sunset Cruises

Taveuni boasts some of the most beautiful sunsets in Fiji, so take one of our boats for a trip with your friends, OR take a private cruise, with your own barmaid and waiter. Enjoy a delicious cocktail whist leisurely watching the sun sink in the west.
